How to Prepare a Property for New Tenants
Handing a rental property over to new tenants in good condition starts with a thorough clean, particularly if the previous tenants have already moved out.
What to Focus On
- Kitchens, including surfaces, cupboards and appliances
- Bathrooms, including tiles, fittings and fixtures
- Floors throughout the property
- Carpets and upholstery, if left in the unit, where wear or staining is visible
Timing It Right
It generally works best to have the property cleaned once it is empty, so the clean is not undone by ongoing moving activity.
If the Property Has Just Been Renovated
If updates or repairs were made before the new tenants move in, a post construction clean may be more appropriate than a standard move out clean.
See our move in and move out cleaning page for more on preparing a property between tenants.
